The Hultån Hatchet (formerly known as Almike) is a compact, yet capable tool designed for camp site work, such as collecting and processing firewood and building shelter. Its hand-forged blade delivers precise, clean cuts, making it ideal for detailed work and outdoor use. Despite its small size, the hatchet feels balanced and responsive, offering excellent control for one-handed swings. The 1.1 lb. head with its approximately 2.9” long cutting edge is paired with a 15" curved American hickory handle for added reach and comfort. The head features Hults Bruk’s Turpentine pattern, complete with a finger notch for precision carving. Crafted from high-quality Swedish steel at Hults Bruk, this hatchet combines traditional craftsmanship with durability built to last a lifetime. Its main applications are carving, light chopping, and camp work.
The story behind the name: The axe that bears the name “Hultån” pays tribute to the river that powered our mill’s great water wheel. Hultån’s flowing energy was a lifeblood for Hults Bruk, transforming water into force, and that force into tradition and craft. This river, winding through lush forests, was the engine behind centuries of blacksmithing excellence.
