Some tools earn their place through constant use. The Sätra is one of them. Equally at home around the campsite, in the garden, or beside the woodpile, this longer-handled hatchet is designed for kindling, camp chores, garden work, and light chopping. Its 1.3 lb. head and 17-inch American hickory handle provide added leverage and chopping power without stepping up to a full-size forest axe, delivering a longer, more efficient swing while maintaining the control and portability expected from a hatchet. Versatile and dependable, the Sätra offers an excellent balance of reach, performance, and packability that makes it a natural companion for everyday outdoor tasks. Its updated Yankee-pattern geometry improves edge durability and helps the blade release cleanly through repeated chopping, reducing effort and increasing efficiency over extended use. Hand-forged at Hults Bruk from proprietary Swedish steel, the Sätra is hand-sharpened and finished forge-black, resulting in a reliable companion built to serve faithfully around camp, home, and garden for years to come.
The Story Behind the Name: Sätra Farm, located near Hults Bruk, traces its roots back to the 14th century. Once an outlying farm and later operated in connection with the mill, it played a role in the community that grew alongside the forge and surrounding forests. The Sätra Hatchet honors this enduring piece of local heritage.
